Background strainC57BL/6JJcl
Appearanceblack
Strain developmentDeveloped by Kuniya Abe, RIKEN BioResrouce Center (Institute of Molecular Embryology and Genetics) in 1999. The transgene was injected into the pronuclei of C57BL/6J fertilized eggs. Line 18 (RBRC00821) and Line 20 (RBRC00822).
Strain descriptionOct-4(Pou5f1)/EGFP transgenic mice carrying EGFP cDNA under the control of the 18kb Oct-4 genomic fragment (Genomic Oct-4 Fragment of 18) by deletion in the proximal enhancer (PE). The Oct-4 gene expresses in primordial germ cells and undifferentiated spermatogonia in new born mice. This strain is useful to isolate living primordial germ cells which specifically express green fluorescent protein at various stages of embryonic development.
Colony maintenanceCarrier x Noncarrier [C57BL/6JJcl]
