Appearance
Strain developmentThis strain was generated in C57BL/6 mice by Masaru Okabe, Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, Osaka University (RBRC00267 C57BL/6-Tg(CAG-EGFP)C14-Y01-FM131Osb). The mice were then backcrossed to BALB/cANMs (RBRC01624 C.B6-Tg(CAG-EGFP)C14-Y01-FM131Osb/Rbrc), C3H/HeNCrlCrlj (RBRC01624 C3.B6-Tg(CAG-EGFP)C14-Y01-FM131Osb/Rbrc), MSM/MsRbrc (RBRC01626 MSM;B6-Tg(CAG-EGFP)C14-Y01-FM131Osb/Rbrc) and DBA/2CrSlc (RBRC02889 D2.B6-Tg(CAG-EGFP)C14-Y01-FM131Osb/Ny), respectively. Congenic strains of BALB/c, C3H and MSM background were developed by RIKEN BioResource Center, and DBA/2 congenic strain was developed by Naoki Yamamoto, Fijita Health University.
Strain descriptionThese transgenic mice carry an EGFP (enhanced green fluorescence protein) cDNA under the control of a chicken beta-actin promoter and cytomegalovirus enhancer. Both homozygous and hemizygous transgenic mice express GFP in all over the body. This strain is useful for detection of cell fate in transplantation and developmental studies.
