Kaede changes its color from green to red within a few minutes after exposure to violet light [1]. In transgenic mice carrying Kaede cDNA under the CAG promoter, all the cell types constitutively exhibit green fluorescence signal [2]. Immune cells in lymphoid organs and peripheral tissues in Kaede mice can be labeled in red by brief exposure to violet light [3]. Kaede mice are a useful tool to monitor cell replacement at the photoconverted site and/or cell migration to other regions in the body.

Depositor

:

Yoshihiro Miwa, Ph.D.
Faculty of Medicine
University of Tsukuba

Strain name

:

B6.Cg-c/c Tg(CAG-tdKaede)15Utr

RBRC No.

:

RBRC05738

Strain name

:

B6.Cg-Tg(CAG-tdKaede)15Utr

RBRC No.

:

RBRC05737

References

:

[1]

Ando R, Hama H, Yamamoto-Hino M, Mizuno H, Miyawaki A.
